The easy, fun, and highly efficient alternative to creating your jewelry designs without metalsmithing! No need to spend $1,000 on all those pliers and metal forming tools, no scraps of metal left over, and you don't need a fire extinguisher.
Malleable soft wax comes in various thicknesses of flat wax sheets, and various shapes and gauges of wax wires - just like metal. You can also use blocks of soft wax to form sculpted shapes with your fingers and a few simple tools.
You will learn the fast and efficient techniques of using soft wax to create professional models for lost wax casting into metal, including precious metals like sterling, karat gold, and platinum.
We offer a complete 17 piece soft wax tool kit with everything you need to get started. Add a few optional tools and you can create our in-studio experience at home.
Your completed wax design is transformed into metal by a process known as "Lost Wax Casting". We offer a full range of casting services, including making molds of designs that you may want to reproduce in quantity.
We are offering a Zoom version of our most popular studio soft wax workshops, in 3 different 3 hour classes. Each class is suitable for beginners, and teaches basic soft wax modeling techniques through different projects. You will learn basic skills to create charms, pendants, earrings, and even rings. The same techniques can be used later to pursue more advanced designs, including bezels and prongs for stones.
Pendants and Charms
In this section, students will learn basic techniques to use soft wax sheets to create flat pendants and charms, embellished with both soft wax wires and sculpting wax.
Mirror Image Earrings
Using soft wax sheets, wires, and sculpting wax, students will learn to create "mirror image" motifs that can be used for earrings, pendants, or even bracelet links.
Flat Bands and Stack Rings
With a couple of extra tools, you can use the same sheets, wires, and sculpting wax to create bands and stack rings. These same techniques can be used later to create rings for faceted and cabochon stones.

Thank you for all the wonderful years on Main Street!
We hate to leave, but COVID has put us in an unsustainable position.
For the foreseeable future, Peter will be teaching online only,
so we've made the difficult decision to relocate and close our Santa Monica studio.
Learning is paused as we make transition to our new space, but we are looking forward to seeing you in our classes online soon!
With gratitude,
Peter and Mary
